Krasnoborki
founded in 1506 by Fiedka Bohdanowicz Chreptowicz; in 16th-17th century a centre of Chreptowicz family properties. Former order church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the oldest in Podlasie /1584-89/, of the Adam Chreptowicz’s foundation, brick, gothic-renaissance, built on the Greek cross plan; from 2nd half of 16th century to 1825, orders’ headquarters of Basillian monks, Bernardines and Dominicans. Nearby, there is a Saint Roch’s church built in 1870, cast-iron gravestone of Wiktoria Wierzbicka Rymaszewska made in “Wawra” steelworks owned by K. Brzostowski in April, 1863. On the cemetery, a monument with names of 44 manhunt victims killed in July, 1945 by NKVD and Polish communist secret political police.
