Trempiniai village and the hill of Koplyčkalnis
3 kilometers north of Liubavas town there is a village of Trempiniai and its legendary hill of Koplyčkalnis. According to the local legends, in times of serfdom, a painting of the Mother of God was found on an oak tree branches on the hill. The lord of the Manor of Trempiniai of those days commanded to cut down the tree, make a cupboard for the painting and take it to the church of Liubavas. The cupboard remained in the church till the First World War when the church was burned. The painting miraculously survived, was restored and placed in the new church of Liubavas where it was kept to the present day.
